Located on a vast plain in North East China, is its capital city Beijing. Beijing is a city full of skyscrapers, Historic Buildings and Street food. It is a city mastering the art of perpetual reinvention.  Modern and eye catching architecture is transforming Beijing in the 21st century to make it a famous place to visit. Along with Shanghai, Beijing is also an economic powerhouse for China. Tourism may not be very popular here, but there are a large number of visitors to Beijing, especially to see The Great Wall of China. Beijing is a city giving you a blend of old fashion and new fashion.

Beijing is famous for its traffic jams. Getting around the city can be a nightmare sometimes, especially when you are in a taxi. Buses may be considered in non-peak hours. The subway system is the best way to get around the city. It’s fast, Cheap and comfortable. Beijing has one of the worst Air qualities in the world. You will face severe air pollution in the months of May, June and July. Best months to visit Beijing are March, April, August and September. When in Beijing, don’t consider taxis as the drivers do not speak English. Instead, you can look for guided tour buses especially for far off places.

Beijing is full of historic and beautiful sights. Places to visit may include Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Donghuamen Night Market and The Great Wall of China. These places not only tell you about Chinese history, but also are examples of Chinese Art and Architecture. The Tiananmen Square is a great place for relaxation and people watch. It is the 4th largest square in the world.

The Great Wall of China is undoubtedly the attraction no visitor  wanna miss.  It is several thousand kilometres long and one of the man-made wonders of the world. Climb the Great Wall to see amazing views and watch towers. You can also get yourself a souvenir certifying that you have climbed the Great Wall of China.

Chinese food is famous all around the world. Food is big business out here with tourists trying different dishes in Chinese cuisine. After Chinese, it is Japanese food which is very famous here. Traditional Chinese and Japanese food dominates the food industry here. One of the famous dishes here is Chinese Duck. Street food stalls and restaurants are all around Beijing. Besides, you can also find a variety of Asian, European and American cuisines. Vegetarians may find it difficult to find something to eat, as they may have to compromise with little options.

Shopping in China is cheap especially cloth, garments and bags.  Avoid electronics as you may find low quality products. Marketa around Beijing have a high scope of bargain. In fact, in some places you can bargain up to 50%. Street and Night Markets could be found at many places. So, ask your local guide for best shopping areas.

Beijing International Airport is one of the busiest airports in Asia. Chinese Airlines such as Air China, China Eastern and China Southern have flights to Asia, Australia, Europe and North America. Besides, all major carriers fly into Beijing. Hence, it’s easy to find flights to the Chinese capital. Make sure to carry a Chinese-English translate book or Mobile Apps for as language is a big problem here.
