The Astonishing City of Melbourne

Federation Square
Melbourne is situated in the southern Australian state of Victoria. Home to over 4 million residents, Melbourne is one of the largest cities on the planet.   It features regularly on the list of World’s Most Livable Cities. Founded in 1835, Melbourne is one of the wealthiest cities on Earth. Decades of Prosperity created a Metropolis filled with Grand Civic Buildings, Cathedrals, Theatres and Parks. Melbourne has always been on the Bucket List of all Travelers. A great influence of immigrants has also made Melbourne a culturally diverse city. A few months back we posted a Blog – “Extravagant Holiday in Australia”, where we discussed travel tips for Australia. Here, we will discuss the city of Melbourne in detail…..

St. Pauls Cathedral
Like all big cities, Melbourne has a good public transport system. Buses, Trains, Trams and Taxis are easily available from almost anywhere in the city.  Melbourne has the world’s most extensive street car networks in the world.  These are the best modes by which you can travel around the city. Some places can also be explored on foot. Navigation and finding places is not a problem here. The main language in Australia is English, which makes it easier for tourists and visitor to communicate with locals. Places to see in Melbourne include Federation Square, Flinders Street Station, St. Pauls Cathedral, and Australian Centre of the Moving Image, South Bank, Eureka Tower, National Gallery of Victoria, Immigration Museum, Luna Park, The Bathing Boxes of Brighton Beach, Melbourne Aquarium, Melbourne Cricket Ground and The Great Ocean Road.  The 243 km long Great Ocean Road is one of the most spectacular sights in Australia.  Dedicate a full day for the Great Ocean Road.

The people of Melbourne enjoy their Food culture. Food and Coffee are not luxury, but essentials.  The city’s taste buds were developed by its immigrants. They brought Food from all over the world, and transformed the Food culture here. If Melbourne has a Fragrance, it’s the Aroma of Roasting Coffee Beans.  Queen Victoria Market must be explored to see the city’s fresh Produce.  Lygon Street and Acland street are food strips where you can experience different restaurants and cafes. Food is something you will enjoy in Melbourne.

Melbourne has a good shopping culture as well. Fashion is an essential part of Melbourne. Big Fashion Outlets and Retailers are present all over the city. All International Brands are present here. Shopping of Fashion Products is very famous here.  Melbourne is slightly expensive when it comes to shopping. It is not that cheaper place. Hence, our advice would be to spend more time in sightseeing. If you have something special to shop, then it’s fine.

Melbourne Airport is one of the busiest Airports in the world. All major International carriers fly into Melbourne. Qantas and Virgin Australia are the National carriers with a wide network. Qantas has a tie-up with Emirates. Qantas fly Non-stop to Dubai and connects its passengers to the Emirates network. Tourists from Europe can fly to Dubai with Emirates, and then fly down to Melbourne with Qantas. Thus, it is easy to find flights from almost anywhere in the world.

So, pack your Bags and Enjoy the Beauty of Melbourne…..
